Kit Carson was a daring mountain man who wore many hats: fur trapper, army scout & buffalo hunter.  He served as a guide for expeditions to the Northwest and California during the 1800s--needless to say, he probably felt fairly comfortable lighting a fire without matches.

As the last of the ten US presidents born in a log cabin, you might assume President Garfield was a bit rough around the edges. Luckily, there is nothing quite like a black and white gingham pocket square and its ability to refine and distinguish. In no time, Garfield became known for his ability to write in Latin with one hand and Greek in the other… simultaneously. Perhaps he had a pocket square in both pockets?
