Not every day, but some days, we slow down and cuddle in bed and read together. Maybe this “counts” as school….maybe it doesn’t. Homeschooling isn’t like being on the clock at work. It should be more organic, more natural, more freeing. There are myriad free or almost free units to go along with the books I recommend—-but the most important part is to saturate your children in stories. Book reports aren’t the most important thing—-a love for literature is. I’ll share some of our all-time favorite books. They all started out as read aloud, but as my older daughter becomes more proficient, she has started reading these books on her own—-it’s really wonderful to watch the progression.
